IMD's cyclone alert: Which states will get rainfall on October 26, 27?

For the country as a whole, rainfall is likely to be above normal during the week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Now, in an updated release, the weather department has clarified which states should expect rainfall in the coming days.

According to the IMD, the depression over the Eastcentral and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal is very likely to move nearly southwards, intensify into a deep depression, and then gradually recurve west-northwestwards over the Eastcentral and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal today.

"Continuing to move west-northwestwards, it is very likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm over the Eastcentral & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal by 26th October morning, and into a severe cyclonic storm over westcentral Bay of Bengal around morning of 27th October, 2026," it said in a release.

Coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha have been issued a cyclone warning for October 27 and 28 (Tuesday and Wednesday). On the said days, traffic disruption due to waterlogging on roads is likely in the aforementioned regions, along with the destruction of crops and other farm produce.

Rainfall Warning:

Andaman Islands: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely during 25th to 27th October.   

Andhra Pradesh: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Andhra Pradesh is very likely on 27th & 28th October and heavy rainfall at isolated places on 29th October.   

Odisha: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Odisha on 27th, heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Odisha is very likely on 28th and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Odisha on 29th October.   

Telangana: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over eastern parts of Telangana on 28th and heavy rainfall at isolated places on 29th October.   

Chhattisgarh: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over South Chhattisgarh on 28th and over north Chhattisgarh on 29th October.   

Jharkhand: Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely during 28th to 30th October.   Bihar: Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 29th October and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on 30th October.   

Gangetic West Bengal: Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over coastal districts of West Bengal 28th & 29th October.   

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim: Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 29th & 30th October.   

Vidarbha: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely during 28th to 30th October.   

East Madhya Pradesh: Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 28th October 2026; heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on 29th and heavy rainfall at isolated places on 30th Oct.   

East Uttar Pradesh: Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 29th & 30th October.
