A woman allegedly killed her two children with scissors before dying by suicide in Rajasthan's Alwar on Sunday, police said.

Usha Shar reportedly stabbed her five-year-old son Mukul and four-year-old Nandini with a pair of scissors in a locked room before stabbing and injuring herself.

Villagers rushed to the house after hearing the children scream and forced open the door. Usha’s younger sister Manisha, who arrived at the house at the time, became distressed seeing the bodies and injured herself by banging her head on the wall.

The villagers took all four to Kherli Sub-District Hospital.

Mukul was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Usha and Nandini both died during treatment. Manisha, who also sustained serious injuries, was referred to a district hospital for further treatment. She later told police that her older sister had told the children not to play outside the house.

Usha’s husband, Amit Sharma, works for a private company in Gujarat.

Manisha’s husband, Ankit Sharma, meanwhile, works as a nurse at a private hospital in Jaipur.

Kathumar Circle offcier Jogendra Singh Rajawat and Kherli police inspected the scene.

Police said they are investigating the exact circumstances leading to the incident.

Usha’s father-in-law, Brijbhusham Sharma, is currently campaigning as a candidate for the upcoming local elections.
