Offering residents respite from Maharashtra’s sultry weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over the weekend, with showers expected across the broader Konkan region.
IMD had forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across multiple regions on October 17.
In an immediate weather warning issued Friday, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecast thundershowers, lightning, light to moderate rain, and gusty winds reaching 40–50 km/h in isolated pockets of South Konkan-Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra.
While hot and humid conditions will persist in Mumbai and Thane over October 17–18, light rain and thundershowers are forecast to bring partial relief next week.
Daytime maximum temperatures will range between 33 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius, accompanied by elevated humidity levels.
According to the IMD, there is a possibility of rain in some parts of South India between October 15 and 18. Kerala and Tamil Nadu are likely to receive above-average rainfall between October 22 and 29.
However, the IMD's extended-range forecast indicates no significant weather or heavy rain systems expected over Mumbai, Konkan, or the broader western region.
Weather conditions will remain predominantly dry and warm, characterised by typical "October heat"—clearer skies, higher afternoon temperatures, and warm, humid conditions during the day.
Delhi weather
Delhi is likely to see partly cloudy skies and warmer conditions on Saturday, October 17, after recent rain and thunderstorms brought a change in the weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast indicates that conditions will become drier over the weekend.
