A 4.9 magnitude earthquake rattled Uttarakhand on Tuesday night, according to the National Centre for Seismology. However, the US Geological Survey and the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre pegged the magnitude at 5.1

Tremors were also felt in nearby regions, including the Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab.

The National Centre for Seismology traced the epicentre of the quake to Chamoli in Uttarakhand. The exact location was 50 km south of Joshimath. 

On Tuesday morning another earthquake of 4.5 magnitude jolted Assam's Nagaon around 4.23 am. The quake occurred at a depth of 33 kilometres.

On September 26, a quake of 3.6 magnitude struck Uttarakhand's Bageshwar district around 12.35 at a depth of 5 km.

On August 10, a 4.2 magnitude quake rattled Uttarkashi district around 1.21 am. It occurred at a depth of 10 km near Rajgarhi area of Barkot tehsil.
