This serious development has led to immediate notification of the home secretary, Bihar government, and CRPF, underscoring grave security concerns for the minister who already possesses Z-category security nationwide. The incident, a matter of "grave concern," follows a previous death threat Paswan received via Instagram in July 2025.

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) supremo Chirag Paswan said he received an anonymous letter warning that he will be "killed shortly by hardcore terrorists".

The minister, who holds the food processing industries portfolio, currently has a Z-category security cover nationwide.

"You will be killed shortly by hardcore terrorists," the anonymous letter read.  

Immediately after receiving the death threat, the minister's additional private secretary informed the home secretary about the "matter of grave concern" regarding his personal security. His office has also alerted the Bihar government and the CRPF.

The letter sent from Paswan's office to the home ministry read, "An unsigned communication containing two mobile numbers was received in the ministry today. Upon opening the same, it was found to contain a direct threat to the life of the Hon'ble Union Minister of Food Processing Industries".

Urging swift probe and review of the minister's security, the letter added, "The contents of the communication, particularly the direct nature of the threat and the reference to 'hardcore terrorists', are a matter of grave concern and give rise to serious apprehensions regarding the safety and security of the Hon'ble Minister." 

In July 2025, Paswan received another death threat via Instagram after LJP(RV) declared that it will be contesting the Bihar assembly elections.
