The 12-year-old daughter of NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar's personal assistant was found dead in Baramati in Maharashtra's Pune district on Sunday.
An investigation was underway.
The deceased was identified as Pawar's personal assistant Ajit Dashavatare's daughter.
According to PTI, the girl had a minor argument with her mother over an issue before leaving home in anger on Saturday. Her family had approached the police and filed a complaint when she failed to return home.
Police said that her body was found near her home in the Sainagar area of Rui village in Baramati on Sunday morning.
Rohit Pawar visited Baramati Government Medical College and met the family of the deceased. "The girl had been missing since last night. A complaint regarding her had also been made to the police department last night. After that, whether it was Ajit’s friends and family, people known to them, or to some extent people from the police department, they tried to find her, but at 8:30 am, her dead body was found there," said Pawar.
The body has been sent to Baramati Government Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
"We have launched an investigation into the case, and all possible angles are being examined," said a senior police official.
