Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders staged a sit-in protest outside Parliament Street Police Station, demanding the immediate filing of a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with alleged pellet gun injuries sustained by a 19-year-old named Sahil Lochab during a protest on July 20. Lochab reportedly suffered multiple pellet injuries, with significant concern for his vision in one eye. Gandhi criticized Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of instilling fear of justice and highlighted the lack of accountability for the alleged police brutality. While the Delhi Police confirmed that the victim's complaint had been received and assured that the Crime Branch was already investigating related cases from July 20, the protest underscored the ongoing demand for a formal FIR and thorough inquiry into the incident.

High drama unfolded on Friday outside the Parliament Street Police Station on Friday as Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and others staged a sit-in protest. Gandhi, along with a pellet-gun victim, Sahil Lochab, protested against failure to file FIR in the case.

The 19-year-old Lochab allegedly suffered pellet-gun injuries during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)'s Jantar Mantar protest on July 20.

Gandhi said that he would stay put outside the station until an FIR was formally registered.

Hitting out against Home Minister Amit Shah, he accused him of being scared of justice.

"On July 20, the police attacked Sahil, who was peacefully protesting at Jantar Mantar, with a pellet gun. Severely injured by the pellets, Sahil's vision in one eye is now at risk. Such brutality against a peaceful protest is not just illegal—it's a serious crime. Neither has Home Minister Amit Shah offered any explanation to the students for this cruelty, nor has the Prime Minister apologised to them," Gandhi wrote on X.

Chaos prevailed in the station limits as Congress leaders including Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and Kumari Selja arrived to join Rahul in his protest.

While speaking to the media, Rahul Gandhi said that, "Three pellets were lodged in his eye, and 200 in his body. There are shells near his heart that cannot be touched. Delhi Police say they did not fire pellet guns. Who fired pellet guns if not cops?"

Meanwhile, Delhi Police said that the complaint of the victim was accepted and pointed out that the Crime Branch was already investigating all the cases registered on July 20. An investigating officer has also been assigned.

Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that Congress is becoming a party of anarchy and engaging in politics of competition to divert public attention from the Vande Mataram row.

"It is very unfortunate that LoP Rahul Gandhi does politics of anarchy...The police have informed him that an FIR has already been registered on the incident he is quoting. The SC has formed a high-powered committee to probe into this. Rahul Gandhi, don't you want to respect any law? BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
