A six-year-old child died in Visakhapatnam after his teacher allegedly slapped his face, according to reports. The incident happened on Thursday at  Little Garden School in the One Town area.

According to local media reports,  Pranay Teja died after his teacher hit him for not completing his homework. Immediately after the teacher slapped him, the boy fell unconscious. The school staff immediately took the child to the hospital, where the doctors confirmed that he had already died.

His parents said Pranay was in good health when he left home for school on Thursday morning. His father said the child had himself insisted on going to school that day despite his family not wanting him to attend the classes that day. 

They alleged that their son had died because of the teacher's punishment and demanded strict action against the teacher.

A CCTV footage of the incident also went viral on social media. The video shows the teacher reprimanding him before slapping his cheeks. He collapses within seconds. 

The incident triggered an uproar, with State Minister Nara Lokesh expressing deep shock over the death of the child. He said strict action will be taken against those responsible for this unfortunate incident and against the school management as per the law. He assured the family of the deceased that the government will stand by them in every possible way.

"The death of six-year-old Pranay Tej after being beaten by a teacher at Little Garden Private School in Visakhapatnam is extremely sad. We are taking strict action against those responsible and the school management as per the law. I express my deepest condolences to Pranay Tej's parents," he said.
