People in West Bengal will have to wait before they can step out without their umbrellas. While severe rainfall is largely not expected to disrupt daily life this week, the downpour will resume, the Alipore Regional Meteorological Centre has reportedly said.
Several parts of West Bengal received heavy rainfall last week under the influence of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. However, as the system has weakened, the first half of this week is unlikely to witness heavy rainfall.
According to the Alipore weather office, there is little chance of heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday, although isolated showers may occur in some places, reported TV9 Bangla.
Starting Wednesday, however, showers are expected to gradually gain strength across the southern parts of the state.
Where will it rain in West Bengal this week?
According to the forecast, heavy rain is expected in North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas on Wednesday, August 12, the TV9 Bangla report said. On Thursday, August 13, heavy rain may occur in both these districts as well as West Midnapore. As per the report, these regions should not expect relief from the downpour on Friday either.
Despite the scope for scattered rainfall on Monday and Tuesday, high relative humidity will continue to cause uncomfortable conditions.
Meanwhile, the northern parts of West Bengal are not expected to receive heavy rain over the next four days, though the hill districts — particularly Darjeeling and Kalimpong — may experience light to moderate rain.
