After the online satirical political movement Cockroach Janta Party successfully led protests demanding changes in the education ministry, the attention of netizens has now turned towards the next major issue in the country.

The account for the 'E20 Janta Party' on X claimed that it wanted to bring attention towards the government's push to introduce ethanol-blended petrol.

Within hours of its formation on X, the account for the party gained thousands of followers. It currently has about 49K followers. Their page on Instagram has already gained 100 thousand followers.

The party has described itself as the voice of ordinary motorists.

The digital campaign was launched by persons who believe that if the government is introducing E20 fuel, it should also provide pure petrol at pumps so that customers can choose.

One post from the Twitter handle reads. "Our vehicles are not test machines. We purchased them with our hard-earned money. We've already paid the taxes."

The party said that its main demand was to give Indians a choice.

“We are not asking for free fuel. We are not asking for subsidies. We are asking for one basic consumer right: Give Indians the choice to buy 100% petrol. Let citizens decide what goes into their vehicles,” one post read.

“We are an independent citizens’ movement focused on raising issues that affect the common people. Our only agenda is to ensure transparency, protect consumer rights, and encourage an open public discussion on the real impact of India’s E20 (20% Ethanol Blended Petrol) policy,” a post shared shortly after midnight on Monday read.

“We do not support or endorse any political party. Our support is for the people, not for any political ideology,” it said, adding, “Please don’t get distracted by rumours about who is behind this movement or where it is being operated from. Such speculation only takes attention away from the real issue.”

The account also posted a call for the resignation of Nitin Gadkari, the minister for road transport and highways.

Another account that goes by the same name announced a Parliament march on August 4. It said that taxi, tourist and commercial vehicle owners from across India will march to Parliament to protest against E20 or ethanol-blended petrol.

The CJP was formed by Boston University graduate Abhijeet Dipke after Chief Justice Surya Kant called the unemployed youth ‘cockroaches’. The party focused on the recent NEET controversy and paper leaks, which resulted in multiple student suicides across the country.

The online movement soon transformed into a 38-day protest in Delhi, which eventually led to the resignation of the education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.
