This comes just a day after TVK leader Veera and 6 Greater Chennai Corporation officials were fired over the alleged misuse of public funds.

The TVK government's crackdown on corruption was the headline of CM C. Joseph Vijay's cabinet meeting on Thursday, ahead of the Tamil Nadu Budget presentation in the first week of August.

Held at 10:30 AM at the Chennai Secretariat, the meeting is said to have focused on various important aspects of the TVK government's first Budget, including allocations for agriculture and industries.

Vijay's stern warning against the misuse of public funds comes just a day after TVK leader Veera (also known as Veerasamy) was fired from all his party positions, in connection with a viral video.

The video allegedly showed the Mambakkam Panchayat president and the TVK's joint secretary in the Chengalpattu East district accepting a 'bribe' to the tune of Rs 1.30 lakh for passing a bill related to a road consttruction project.

Veerasamy, however, claimed that the video was being released to manipulate him and the Vijay-led TVK government.

Vijay's touted corruption crackdown drive also came down on six Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) officials in connection with the misuse of public funds.

Coming after the fake bills expose of July 9, the six officials were sacked based on information and evidence received from various sources, including contractors, officials from the Department of Vigilance and Anti-corruption (DVAC), and whistleblowers.

The CM also warned his ministers against "Instagram reel gimmicks", saying that ministers who visited government schools to inspect them were taking videos and reels to post them on social media, which was criticised as a hindrance to students' education.

This comes after parents of many government school students heavily criticised S. Keerthana, the youngest minister in the TVK cabinet, after a reel featuring her recently surfaced on social media.

It reportedly showed her visiting a school for an inspection, during which she asked a student a question in English, and then scolded a teacher nearby when the student struggled.

With just weeks to go before August, all eyes are on the release of the Vijay-led TVK government's first-ever Budget, which will be closely watched by the Opposition.
