A male and female teacher from a primary school in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, were suspended after they were caught engaging in ‘indecent behaviour’ on camera. The video recently went viral on social media.
The clip was reportedly captured after the male teacher’s wife installed a hidden camera in the classroom, suspecting his infidelity.
The video showed the teachers being romantic inside an empty classroom. The matter reached the education department, and after an investigation, both of them were suspended.
The Education Department stated that the authenticity of the video is still being investigated. District Basic Education Officer (BSA) Sandeep Kumar ordered an investigation into the matter.
The preliminary investigation report stated that the teachers' conduct as seen in the video was extremely inappropriate. The investigative report by Vishwanath Pathak, the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Saurikh, said that such activities on school premises could have a negative impact on students. Based on the investigation report, both assistant teachers were suspended.
A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against both.
The male teacher has reportedly been having marital disputes with his wife, whom he has been married to for four years. She is a Panchayat Secretary.
Meanwhile, the female teacher’s husband told the media that his wife had recently filed a dowry harassment case against him. They have two children, but she does not allow him to meet them.
The video that has gone viral was taken sometime around the winter season, as they are both seen wearing jackets.
The locals in the area have demanded that the Education Department take strict action against the teachers.
