Why Karnataka Governor suspended KPSC chairman? Daughters' found illegally applying for govt service
The Governor of Karnataka has ordered the immediate suspension of KPSC Chairman Shivashankarappa S Sahukar amidst allegations of abuse of power and nepotism
The Governor of Karnataka has recommended the immediate suspension of KPSC Chairman Shivashankarappa S Sahukar amidst allegations of abuse of power and nepotism, marking a historic first in the commission's 75-year existence. The controversy centers on accusations that Sahukar facilitated the selection of his daughter, Suma S Sahukara, for the post of Industrial Extension Officer by enabling her to obtain an income and caste certificate with a falsely declared low annual income, thus improperly claiming reservation under Other Backward Classes. This action is particularly significant as government orders prohibit children of KPSC chairmen from accessing such reservations, and an FIR has been registered against Suma for submitting false documents after a complaint was filed. In the interim, a senior commission member, Dr. B. Prabhudev, has been appointed as acting chairman while an inquiry into the allegations proceeds.
