Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has declared movable and immovable assets worth more than ₹96 crore in his election affidavit filed along with his nomination for the July 30 Bankipur Assembly bypoll in Bihar.

The bypoll was necessitated after BJP national president Nitin Nabin vacated the seat following his election to the Rajya Sabha. Kishor's candidature is expected to make the election a closely watched contest in the BJP stronghold.

According to the affidavit, Kishor owns movable assets worth ₹22.19 crore and immovable assets valued at ₹73.87 crore. His wife, Jahnavi Das, a medical practitioner from Assam, has declared movable assets worth ₹89.51 crore and immovable assets worth ₹12.42 crore, making her wealthier than the Jan Suraaj chief.

Kishor has declared cash in hand of ₹65,570, while his wife has ₹1,95,200.

The affidavit also states that the former election strategist holds a 100 per cent controlling stake in a private company. The firm donated ₹85 crore to the Jan Suraaj Party and ₹50 lakh to the Jan Suraaj Foundation during the 2024–25 financial year.

Kishor filed his nomination on Monday after leading a padyatra through Patna. He was accompanied by his wife, senior party leaders, and a large number of supporters.

"This is not just my *naamankan* (nomination), but a call for political change in Bihar, where people with criminal records must give up their chairs," he told reporters.

Before filing his nomination, the Jan Suraaj chief offered prayers at the Baba Hariharnath Temple in Sonepur. He later led a procession from the Scout and Guide Ground near Sinha Library in Patna to the district collectorate, accompanied by party workers and supporters.
