In a fresh twist in the murder case of Ketan Agarwal, a third person has surfaced, who was allegedly informed by Siya and Chetan about the plan to kill the Pune realtor.
Police claimed on Friday that the youth from Maharashtra's Beed region, identified as Chetan's friend and classmate, was informed by the accused duo about the plan to kill Ketan.
The youth, whose name has not yet been revealed, has claimed that he had urged the duo not to kill Ketan, and had also refused their alleged requests that he join them at the Lohagad Fort on June 18.
Ketan died after falling from the fort into a deep ravine below, which had led to claims that Siya, his unwilling fiancee, and Chetan, her alleged lover, had conspired to kill him with a push. The two were arrested on June 23.
A Times of India report has also pointed out that both Chetan and Siya allegedly spoke to the Beed youth even after the death of Ketan.
Employed with a private company in Balewadi, the youth had reportedly been in touch with Chetan since the last week of May, due to which he remains under the custody of the Pune Rural Police.
Earlier on Friday, Siya was also caught on camera flashing the middle finger at reporters while being escorted by police from her residence in Pune's Market Yard area as part of the ongoing probe.
This again sparked backlash against the 20-year-old, whose name has been dominating news cycles over the past few weeks.
The accused duo have been remanded to judicial custody till July 16 by a Pune court, which sided with the defence and refused a police plea to extend the custody duration.
Siya, Chetan used 'code words'?
The probe into the murder of Ketan has also revealed that the accused duo allegedly used "code words" to communicate with each other before and after the crime.
In that regard, investigators have obtained a second mobile phone belonging to Siya, which they believe could help in deciphering the coded messages between the two.
