The Maharashtra Police are set to conduct a gait analysis of Chetan Chaudhury, one of the two accused in the murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, as part of their ongoing forensic investigation.

The exercise aims to verify CCTV-based sightings using forensic gait-matching techniques. Investigators believe Chetan was seen walking near the gate of Lohagad Fort in Pune district on the day of the incident.

Gait analysis is a forensic method that studies an individual’s walking pattern, often used to identify suspects captured on CCTV or video footage.

Police are also expected to recreate the crime scene with Chetan at Lohagad Fort, similar to a reconstruction already conducted with the co-accused, Siya Goyal, who was Ketan’s fiancée. During that exercise, officers reportedly used a dummy with a weight similar to the victim to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Ketan Agarwal died on June 18 after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort. While the incident was initially treated as an accident, investigators later alleged that he was pushed to his death by Siya and Chetan.

According to police, Siya allegedly confessed that she did not want to marry Ketan and conspired with Chetan to kill him, fearing social stigma if she called off the wedding.

On Monday, a local court remanded both accused to police custody till July 3. The prosecution had sought a seven-day custody period, but the court granted remand after hearing arguments from both sides.

Investigators have also seized Chetan’s two-wheeler, which he allegedly used to travel from Pune to Lohagad in an attempt to avoid toll plaza surveillance cameras. Police further recovered clothing items, including a hoodie and headphones, believed to have been worn by him on the day of the incident.
