In a major anti-narcotics operation, Kerala police arrested seven people, including two women, in Thrissur district on Sunday.
Officials said that they also seized about 308 grams of MDMA worth over Rs 15 lakh in two connected cases.
The operation began after police personnel from Peechi intercepted a car on Friday during a routine check at Vaniyampara.
The four occupants in the car displayed suspicious behaviour, leading to the police conducting a detailed search. Officers recovered about 2 grams of MDMA concealed in the private parts of one of the women.
The four arrested persons are Shifaz (26) from Kakkassery, Vidya (28) from Nenmeni, Jishnu (27) from Attayoor and Sreelakshmi (20) from Nambazhikad.
After the substance was recovered, the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force joined the investigation. The accused told police that they were returning after they attended a party at a resort in Muthalamada in neighbouring Palakkad district.
Police said that Shifaz procured the drugs. The investigators searched the house under the Pavaratty police station limits and recovered about 13 grams of MDMA.
A detailed investigation revealed that some of the narcotics were removed from the hours by Shifaz's friend Sumesh. Police then tracked Sumesha and two of his associates Shabeer P A, 37, of Thaikkad and Ansad, 33, of Chavakkad.
Police personnel from the Chavakkad police station took the two into custody and recovered about 288 grams of MDMA from an aluminium fabrication shop at Thaikkad on Saturday.
Police later arrested Sumesh, 25, in relation to the case.
A total of 308 grams of MDMA was seized in the two cases registered at Peechi and Chavakad police stations.
All seven of the accused were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody, police said.
