The mother of Siya Goyal, the primary suspect in the alleged murder of her fiancé Ketan Agarwal, has stated that her daughter was initially reluctant to participate in the Lohagad fort trek, revealing through chat logs that Siya expressed a desire not to go but was persuaded by Ketan, while her parents claim ignorance of any prior relationship Siya had with another individual named Chetan Chaudhary, whom police allege conspired with Siya to commit the murder because Siya allegedly did not want to marry Ketan and felt trapped by his family's influence, and both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are currently in police custody until June 29 as the investigation progresses.

The mother of Siya Goyal, the main accused in the alleged murder of Ketan Agarwal, told reporters that her daughter had not initially wanted to go to the Lohagad fort trek with her fiancé.

Pooja Goyal, her mother, said that they conversed via chat before the trek.

“The night before the incident, Siya and Ketan had a video call about going to Lohagad Fort, and when Ketan’s mother came on the call, Siya said she didn’t want to go on the trek. But his mother asked her to go. This is all in the chat between the two, where she says she didn’t want to go but he was convincing her otherwise," Pooja Goyal said.

Pune Rural Police alleged that Siya Goyal, 20, and her friend Chetan Chaudhary, 22, conspired together to kill Ketan Agarwal, 26, with whom Goyal was engaged.

Pooja Goyal said that the family had no knowledge of Chetan and said that Siya never expressed any dissatisfaction with her marriage to Ketan.

“Siya never expressed any displeasure about this marriage. We did not know anything about Chetan. Ever since the engagement, she only spoke to Ketan," she said.

“If anyone is at fault in this, they should be given the harshest punishment. Even if it includes my daughter. If my daughter is found guilty, then she should be thrown from the same place where Ketan was thrown," Pooja Goyal told reporters.

Siya’s father, Pravin Goyal, also echoed the same idea.

“Whoever did this should receive the harshest punishment. Just like the fort from which our Ketan fell, whoever is found guilty, even if it’s my own daughter, should be pushed from there," he said.

“We did not have any prior knowledge about Siya’s love affairs. Siya was a simple girl. She is 19 years old. Would a 19-year-old girl do such a thing? I don’t know anything about him. Where did Chetan come from? I’ve never seen his face, nor have I ever spoken to him in my life," he said. Siya turned 20 in June 2026.

Pune Rural police, which is investigating the case, said that Siya reportedly did not want to marry Ketan and had allegedly planned his murder.

Police said that during interrogation, Siya claimed that Ketan reportedly said that his family was “influential and wealthy” and that she would not be able to escape the marriage even if she tried to run away after she expressed her desire to break off the engagement.

She reportedly met Chetan during a Diwali party last year and later became close.

Both Siya and Chetan are currently in police custody until June 29 as the investigation continues.
