A 19-year-old medical aspirant was found dead in her apartment in Hyderabad on Saturday, just a day before the NEET re-examination.

Police said that they recovered a note from the scene where Sheikh Sana wrote that no one is responsible for her actions.

“No one is responsible for my death. I am taking my life,” she wrote.

She stayed with her two sisters in an apartment while pursuing her studies.

Her father works in Kuwait, and her mother had travelled to Proddatur in Andhra Pradesh around 10 days ago.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police suspect that the student may have taken an extreme step due to the pressure of the NEET re-examination taking place on Sunday.

The student reportedly used a scarf to hang herself. The note was left in English.

Sana had reportedly appeared for the exam last year but was unable to crack it. She later went for long-term coaching and appeared for the test held next month.

Since the cancellation of the first test, she has been preparing for the re-examination.

Sana has two younger sisters who are in Classes 10 and 6, who stay with her

Their aunt resides in the adjacent apartment and has been looking after them.

On Saturday, Sana went into her room after breakfast. Her sisters thought that she was preparing for the exam. However, they began to be worried when she did not come out till evening. They opened the door and found their sister hanging.

They immediately called the police.

The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem. Sana is reportedly the first NEET aspirant to die by suicide from Telangana.

There has been a series of suicides since the NEET exam held on May 3 was cancelled following alleged paper leaks.

A 20-year-old NEET aspirant died by suicide in Tamil Nadu on Saturday at his residence on the eve of the examination.

C Vetriyanantham was the son of Chinnasamy, a private factory worker. He was reportedly under immense stress as he had faced setbacks in her previous attempts.

In his suicide note, he expressed his love for his parents and said that he was blessed to have such parents and a brother. He also said that he hadn't been able to sleep for the past month due to fear of the exam and said that he was taking the extreme step out of “fear” that he would “fail this time as well”
