Bizarre reason cited by Delhi doctor who killed his house help with cricket bat: ‘Hang me’
Delhi housemaid murder details emerge as dermatologist Dr Manish Gupta is arrested for the brutal killing of his 45-year-old maid, Meena. The incident, involving a cricket bat and knife, occurred after a dispute over her employment and the doctor's alleged mental health struggles
A Delhi-based dermatologist, Dr. Manish Gupta, has been arrested for the brutal murder of his 45-year-old house help, Meena, who had been employed by the family for 15 years. The incident occurred when Meena was hanging clothes on the rooftop, and Dr. Gupta allegedly attacked her repeatedly with a cricket bat, followed by slitting her throat with a knife. The crime was discovered by a neighbor who alerted the police, finding the doctor sitting on the stairs upon their arrival. Preliminary investigations suggest the murder stemmed from a domestic dispute, with Dr. Gupta's wife wanting Meena to continue working while he was insistent on her dismissal, reportedly due to mental health struggles including depression and OCD, and a belief that Meena brought bad energy or practiced black magic, which he felt was affecting his son's studies.

More details are emerging regarding the horrendous murder of a house help in Delhi by her employer, a Delhi-based dermatologist. Police have arrested Dr Manish Gupta of Mount Kailash for the brutal murder of his 45-year-old maid, Meena.
Meena, who has been serving the family for the last 15 years, was murdered by Dr Gupta using a cricket bat. He also slit her throat with a knife.
According to investigating officials, Meena reported to work as usual around 10:30 am on Thursday. She had climbed to the terrace of the building to hang clothes when Dr Gupta arrived and allegedly attacked her using a cricket bat. The doctor first struck Meena's head and face multiple times before slitting her throat with a knife.
The incident came to light when a resident of the building opposite saw a woman lying in a pool of blood on the rooftop from the sixth-floor balcony. Police were alerted. On arrival, the accused was found sitting on the stairs. According to a senior police officer, on seeing the police, the doctor cried, "Hang me!"
He was subsequently taken into custody. A blood-stained bat and a kitchen knife were recovered from the scene.
Primary investigation revealed that the doctor and his wife had been arguing for a long time about removing Meena from her job. "He was mentally struggling and had violent thoughts. He was thinking about killing his wife, son, or himself. He didn't want Meena to work at home, while his wife wanted her to continue working because she had always taken care of the family."
The investigation has revealed that the accused had been undergoing treatment for depression and OCD for a long time.
The doctor reportedly told the investigation official that he wanted Meena out of the house, but nobody was listening to him. “He was upset and felt bad that nobody listened to him. He also told us that he suspected that Meena was bringing bad energy to the house, and this affected his son’s studies,” a senior police officer told Hindustan Times.
Other reports hinted that the doctor believed Meena was practising black magic.
