Many parts of Uttar Pradesh received rainfall on Saturday morning. According to local media reports, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed Amethi on Saturday morning. Strong winds and heavy rain have been reported in Rae Bareli since 9:00 am, while loss of property was reported in Baghpat.
Heavy rain was experienced across 20 cities of Uttar Pradesh, including Kanpur, Fatehpur, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Hathras, Sambhal, and Unnao, Bhaskar said in a report.
Dust storms swept through Kaushambi and Prayagraj. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a storm alert, the news report added. Citizens need to be careful as wind speeds could reportedly reach up to 90 km per hour in the capital.
As per the IMD, a new western disturbance has activated in the state, which has resulted in the pre-monsoon season gaining momentum. Amethi will remain cloudy and can expect intermittent rain for the next few hours. Many parts of UP have lost power supply as a consequence of the heavy downpour, which has left many streets waterlogged.
