According to reports, the incident took place around 8:00 am. Flames erupted from the flat on the 12th floor of the 28-storey building, and the fire spread rapidly, producing thick black smoke that was visible from nearby areas.
Residents used the staircase to evacuate the building after the fire broke out. Police said the entire building was cleared, and residents of nearby flats also moved to a safe location as a precaution.
Officials said no injuries or casualties had been reported so far. However, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and directed the officials to take necessary actions.
In another incident, a fire broke out in the Gijhor area of Noida Sector 52. Initial reports said that the blaze erupted in an office located on the ground floor of a building that also functions as a hostel/PG accommodation.
On Thursday, a fire broke out in a flat in Noida's Sector 100 after a short circuit in an air conditioner's indoor unit. No casualties were reported.
The incident follows a fire that broke out early Wednesday morning at the Flourish Stay hotel in south Delhi's Hauz Rani area, trapping several residents inside.
At least 21 people were charred to death in the blaze, including several foreign nationals. Many sustained injuries as well.
