The Delhi University professor who was found murdered in her apartment, Debosmita Paul, reportedly had a promotion interview on Thursday. A police official said that she did not attend the interview, according to a colleague who worked at the college.

In the hours leading upto her death, the 43-year-old also had reportedly sent medicines to her mother, her family told police.

According to their colleague, the principal’s PA had tried to contact the professor but was unable to reach her the day before the murder.

We were told that the principal’s personal assistant had tried to contact her, but no one from the college had been able to reach her since around 4 pm on Wednesday. On Thursday afternoon, we received the news that she had passed away,” the colleague told Hindustan Times.

They also said that the professor was a “reserved person”.
