Rajinikanth, Ajith appear with Annamalai in Madurai posters amidst new party buzz
Annamalai's political future in Tamil Nadu is a hot topic, with posters showing him alongside actors Rajinikanth and Ajith Kumar sparking widespread speculation
Following his resignation from the BJP, former leader Annamalai's continued presence in Delhi has fueled speculation about his next political move, amplified by posters appearing in Madurai that depict him alongside prominent actors Rajinikanth and Ajith Kumar, with one poster bearing the caption "There is a group of people who will shed blood for you" attributed to the "Brothers of Annamalai Madurai." This development gains significance amidst the recent electoral success of actor Vijay's political party, though neither Rajinikanth nor Ajith have shown explicit political ambitions, with Ajith having long distanced himself from politics and Rajinikanth having stated he would not form his own party, despite his perceived alignment with the BJP. Political analysts suggest the posters might be a BJP maneuver, particularly as Annamalai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to further conjecture that the party may be urging him to retract his resignation, despite earlier expectations he would announce a new party on his birthday.

As former BJP leader Annamalai continues to stay in Delhi even after tendering his resignation from the party, rumours about his new movement continue to gain strength. What’s triggering speculations in Tamil Nadu is now a poster: one showing actors Rajinikanth and Ajith Kumar holding hands with Annamalai.
These posters, featuring the top stars of the film industry with Annamalai, have been pasted at prominent places in Madurai. One of the posters has a caption which reads: “There is a group of people who will shed blood for you." The group has called itself ‘Brothers of Annamalai Madurai’.
The posters assume significance in the wake of the election victory of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, a barely a year-old political party launched by actor C. Joseph Vijay.
However, neither Ajith nor Rajinikanth has displayed any political intentions. Ajith, who disbanded his fan clubs many years ago, has been continuously demonstrating through his actions that he wanted nothing to do with politics. He has been very careful not to let any political taint affect him, both in his personal life and in the public sphere.
As for Rajinikanth, the superstar has made it clear that he will not directly start a party. But many believe his spiritual and political views align with those of the BJP. Political commentators believe that this poster may have been put up by the Madurai BJP as a manifestation of this.
Meanwhile, Annamalai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. However, his continued stay at the Centre has triggered speculations that the BJP could be pressuring him to reconsider his decision to resign. Since Thursday is Annamalai’s birthday, earlier reports were that he would return to Chennai on that day to announce his new political party.
