Karnataka Congress icon D. K. Shivakumar is set to be the richest chief minister in the country, as his declared assets are worth more than the combined wealth of several counterparts in the north, a report said.

The Congress leader owns assets of Rs 1,413 crore, which is more than the combined wealth of 10 chief ministers of the Hindi heartland states, a new report claimed. While most of the CMs in the northern belt come nowhere close to his material assets, two fellow southern CMs are also immensely rich like the Kanakapura MLA, available information shows. Coming second behind DKS is Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, whose total assets are worth Rs 931 crore, while actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay is third with assets worth Rs 648 crore.

As per information available from the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the total worth of the chief ministers of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi is Rs 106.75 crore, Deccan Herald said in a report. DK’s net worth was last declared in his 2023 election affidavit and is likely to have increased since, as he has acquired significant land assets, the report added.

Shivakumar is also serving as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief.
