The "Cockroach Janta Party," initially a social media phenomenon, is transitioning to a physical protest movement, planning a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 6 to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to alleged mismanagement of the education ministry, including paper leaks and issues with NEET-UG and CBSE evaluations. The group, which has appointed six spokespersons and whose founder is expected to arrive from the US to seek protest permits, aims to hold the government, particularly concerning the education system, accountable, viewing democracy as a dynamic process requiring continuous questioning of elected representatives.

The Cockroach Janta Party, which until now was present only on social media, has decided to establish a ground presence and physically press for its demands, chief among them is the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The group plans to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 6.

The social media formation, which now plans to operate on the ground, has announced six spokespersons to formally communicate its positions to the public, government and media. The online party, written off by many as merely a digital phenomenon, has decided to escalate its campaign into an agenda-driven movement seeking accountability from the system, particularly the education system.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has faced sustained criticism from students who allege that he has failed to effectively manage his ministry, citing paper leaks, the cancellation of NEET-UG, and issues related to the Central Board of Secondary Education’s new on-screen marking evaluation system for Class 12 examinations.

The party’s founder, Abhijeet Dipke, has gone a step further after creating a meme account that garnered millions of followers. He is expected to arrive in Delhi from the US on Saturday morning and will then approach the Parliament Street police station, seeking permission to protest at Jantar Mantar.

Vijeta Dahiya, one of the party’s young spokespersons, said that the people have this absurd understanding of democracy: vote once every five years, choose kings, and then think about the next election. "Democracy has to be dynamic. Our representatives should represent our concerns. We haven’t chosen kings but employees. If they don’t do their work, they must be questioned," he said.

“It’s a 15-day-old movement that started as satire,” another spokesperson, Saurav Das, said. “We have seen irregularities in five examinations. This is our priority for now. Even after this, we will continue to connect with the youth and raise issues,” he added.
