Bhopal Police will be presenting Samarth Singh, the husband and accused in the Twisha Sharma death case, in court on Saturday and seeking a seven-day remand.

The police have also served a notice to Giribala Singh, his mother, and the other accused in the case to appear before the court on May 25th.

Singh had attempted to surrender at the Jabalpur High Court on Friday after absconding from arrest for 10 days since Twisha was found hanging at his residence. He was subsequently arrested by Jabalpur police, who handed him over to Bhopal police.

The police had earlier announced a bounty for his arrest.

Meanwhile, Samarth Singh’s lawyer, Mrigendra Singh, said that his client was not absconding. He said that according to Section 482 of the BNS, there is a provision that allows anyone who has been accused without reason in a case they have no involvement in to apply for anticipatory bail. “He exercised that right, but then I advised him that it would be better to surrender,” he said.

According to Samarth's counsel, he reportedly had tried to surrender at a local court before but was turned away and later arrested.

A Bhopal Police official also confirmed the same to ANI.

The lawyer, meanwhile, said that his client would be exonerated by the CBI investigation into the case.

The lawyer said that Samarth’s mental state was broken and that he was devastated by his wife’s death.

He said that on May 12, Samarth had dropped her off at the beauty parlour and later picked her up. At 7:30 p.m., they reportedly went for a walk. After that, they watched TV and had dinner.

At night, Twisha reportedly went upstairs, saying she needed space.

The lawyer said that Samarth was hiding to avoid arrest when he was asked why Samarth did not appear before the public after his wife’s death made headlines.

Samarth’s lawyer also found nothing wrong in Giribala Singh's recent derogatory and defaming remarks about her now-dead daughter-in-law. He said that the mother-in-law only asked her to remain “devoted to her husband”. The lawyer said, "After marriage, you will be faithful. After marriage, you will be devoted. That's what anyone would expect."

The lawyer claimed that Twisha’s family was responsible for her death and that they did not want her to live as a housewife in Bhopal.

Meanwhile, the high court has approved a second post-mortem on Twisha Sharma on Friday.

Samarth Singh is a criminal case lawyer by profession. Twisha Sharma met him via a dating app. The couple had a lavish wedding about four and a half months before her death. Sharma died under suspicious circumstances on May 12, 2026. The Madhya Pradesh government has submitted a proposal for a CBI investigation into the case to the central government.
