Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the attack on the United Arab Emirates’ port city of Fujairah, which injured three Indian nationals.
“Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable,” Modi said, emphasising that India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and supports a peaceful resolution of all regional issues.
The prime minister further highlighted the importance of ensuring unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, calling it vital for regional peace, stability, and energy security.
Earlier, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the wounding of the three Indians as “unacceptable” and urged an immediate cessation of hostilities targeting innocent civilians.
“We call for immediate cessation of these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent people,” he said. Jaiswal added that India continues to advocate dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability across West Asia.
“We also call for free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law. India stands ready to support all efforts toward a peaceful resolution,” he added.
The three Indian nationals were injured after a fire broke out at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone (FOIZ) on Monday following a drone strike. The Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed the incident and said it is coordinating with local authorities to ensure adequate medical care and welfare for those affected.
Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Defence claimed that Iran launched four missiles toward various areas in the country. “Three were successfully intercepted over the country’s territorial waters, while one fell into the sea,” the ministry said.
