In the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, the Congress-led UDF emerged victorious, dislodging the two-term LDF government. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy played a key role in the Congress’s campaign against incumbent Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. His energetic rallies and sharp social media exchanges with Vijayan generated significant buzz across the state.

Vijayan had made history as the first chief minister to lead the LDF to a second term in power in Kerala in 2021. He was by no means an easy opponent, yet this time the UDF was widely expected to wrest power. Revanth Reddy’s vigorous campaigning in April appears to have stolen thunder from the LDF. He focused on key issues such as industrial stagnation, youth unemployment, and brain drain, while positioning the Congress’s development model as a strong alternative. Through roadshows and speeches, he highlighted Telangana’s achievements, presenting them as a practical blueprint for employment generation and infrastructure growth.

The Telangana leader’s direct and combative style in the campaign stood out. He famously deployed the popular Malayalam film dialogue “Nee Po Mone”, seeking the ouster of Vijayan, a remark that resonated strongly with crowds and went viral on social media. In response, Vijayan hit back on social media, dismissing Revanth’s comments as “unwarranted interference by an outsider” and questioning the relevance of the Telangana model in Kerala’s unique socio-political context.

While these sharp barbs intensified the campaign rhetoric, they also highlighted Revanth Reddy’s readiness to challenge established narratives. He publicly invited Vijayan to a debate on governance and urged him to draw lessons from the “Telangana Model” rather than relying on outdated statistics.

At the UDF victory celebrations held in Hyderabad, Telangana Congress president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud credited Revanth Reddy’s intervention with amplifying the UDF’s message in key constituencies and influencing voters. He noted that showcasing Telangana’s governance and welfare schemes had a “noticeable impact,” encouraging the electorate to move away from a decade of LDF rule. This no-holds-barred approach could well serve as a template for the Telangana  chief minister in future campaigns.
