Vijay to be the new Tamil Nadu CM? Scene shifts to actor’s house in Panayur

Actor Vijay's TVK party shows a stunning debut in Tamil Nadu elections, leading in over 92 seats and causing a major upset to DMK and AIADMK

In a stunning political development in Tamil Nadu, actor Vijay’s TVK emerged as a dark horse in its debut elections, leading in over 112seats. As per reports at 11:45 am, TVK is   leading in 112 seats while AIADMK is second with 73 seats. In a major and rather  unexpected upset, the ruling DMK is currently struggling in third position with over 59 seats.

As per reports, the TVK  has taken the lead in all 16 assembly constituencies in Chennai, including in Kolathur, where Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is the candidate. Not only Stalin, his son and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin (Chepauk), M. Subramanian (Saidapet) and Shekhar Babu (Port) have all faced setbacks. The DMK had won all 16 constituencies in Chennai in the 2021 assembly elections.

Though the results are yet to settle in, there is a buzz around Vijay’s home in Panayur. Local media reports hint that high-level government officials and top police officials are already seeking to meet Vijay, creating a stir in political circles. The sudden change of scene has also seen an increased security arrangement in front of Vijay’s house at Panayur. Paramilitary forces have arrived.

Going by the current trend, it is almost clear that the TVK will emerge as the single largest party, and the chances of Vijay becoming the Chief Minister of the state are almost certain. However, the lack of an absolute majority is still uncertain, and speculations are that TVK might join hands with the AIADMK in case of a hung Assembly.

Huge setback for DMK

Reports have emerged that most of the DMK ministers are facing setbacks. Except for Raghupathi, I. Periyasamy, and Sivashankar, many other ministers are lagging behind in  their constituencies.
