Actor-turned-politician Vijay is creating ripples in Tamil Nadu politics with early leads showing a stunning performance for the party. As per reports at 10 am, Vijay’s party is ahead of the ruling DMK, with leads in 67 seats. Chief Minister Stalin’s DMK is behind with 58 seats, while AIADMK is in the third position with 55 seats.

As for founder Vijay, the actor is reportedly ahead in both his constituencies, Perumbur and Trichy East.

Although it's early to predict the outcome, Vijay’s rather unexpected performance has sent shivers down the DMK camp, with doubts emerging about a 'hung assembly' where no single party has a majority. TVK leading in the first round of results, beating the ruling DMK in many constituencies that were considered 'fortresses', has stunned political observers. With no one close to the 118 seats needed to form the government out of a total of 234, the Tamil Nadu Victory Party has emerged as the single largest party. The  fact that many of the DMK's strongholds have been demolished and the people are leaning towards the TMC has shocked the ruling party.

TVK-AIADMK alliance?

Speculations are rife that Vijay could join hands with the AIADMK to form the government, in case of a hung Assembly. However, political pundits think the presence of BJP in the AIADMK-led alliance could become a spoiler as Vijay is ideologically not aligned with the BJP.  In that context, many predict AIADMK could ditch BJP if Edappadi Palaniswamy gets a chance to be the Chief Minister.
