Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, his son Udhayanidhi Stalin, and Trichy strongman K. N. Nehru were all trailing TVK candidates as Vijay emerged as a strong force in his debut Assembly elections.
Actor-politician Vijay-led TVK's entry into the electoral arena has made predictions about the winning prospects tough, and the Tamil nationalist Seeman's NTK is another factor in the polls.
In Tamil Nadu, 31 of the 34 ministers were trailing, local media reports said. The Tamil superstar Vijay was ahead in all constituencies of Chennai, they added.
The vote-counting exercise commenced at 8 AM with the postal ballots and at 8.30 AM, counting of votes recorded in EVMs will be taken up, they said.

- Chief Minister M. K. Stalin (Kolathur), Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin (Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni), M. Subramanian (Saidapet), and P. K. Sekar Babu were all trailing, to the disappointment of the DMK. It is noteworthy that the DMK had won all 16 constituencies in the state capital in 2021.
- The TVK crossed the three-digit mark in the early hours of counting itself. Vijay was ahead in Perambur but trailing in Trichy East, Tamil news reports said. Security outside the actor-turned-politician's Chennai residence was increased by the police.
- Vijay Prabhakar, son of the DMDK founder and late actor Vijayakanth, was ahead in Virudhunagar. DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth was also leading from Virudhachalam, Dinamani confirmed. While Vijay was ahead by over 2,600 votes, his mother was leading by over 3,200 votes.
- The BJP is trailing in 26 constituencies and is ahead in the Thalli segment alone.
- In the Trichy West constituency, TVK candidate Ramamoorthy was leading with 9,105 votes, while the DMK's K. N. Nehru was behind with 8,523 votes.
