The number of accusations against the main accused in the Tata Consultancy Services Nashik case has been growing with more victims stepping forward. Amid the allegations, a relative of one of the accused claimed that the case was “scripted".
An uncle of one of the seven employees who were arrested spoke to reporters, alleging that a wider plot was behind the case.
“All the families are in trouble. Everything is happening as per a conspiracy. The Bajrang Dal are involved in this. The girl's family called the Bajrang Dal. One person was let go after the investigation, and then he was arrested again by the police. Everything that happened was scripted,” he said.
The Bjrang Dal is the youth wing of the Vishwas Hindu Parishad, an organisation under the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The organisation is accused of being behind several attacks on minorities in Gujarat, Karnataka, and UP according to the Human Rights Watch.
He said that major issues were being ignored, and instead, a minor matter was unnecessarily highlighted and exaggerated. “This appears to be a false case where allegations are being made without strong evidence. It is not a major scandal, as it is being portrayed," he added.
On Thursday, the Nashik court remanded two accused in police custody till April 8. They were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the alleged sexual harassment and forced religious conversion.
The Special Investigation Team formed by the police are probing complaints filed by eight women employees who have alleged that they faced mental and sexual harassment by senior colleagues and that their complaints were ignored by the HR department.
Some employees alleged that there were attempts at forced religious conversion and insults to religious sentiments.
One woman who worked at TCS for six years told NDTV, “I was asked to work alone on the roof. My phone and bag were confiscated. When I would come down to go to the wash room or for any other purpose, my mobile phone, bag and all my personal belongings were confiscated under the pretext of security or some other reason. Many young employees working in the company were exploited and brainwashed. They considered young women in the age group of 20 to 25 as easy targets. They thought it would be easy to trap them.”
