Nine family members, including six children, killed as car plunges into well in Nashik

Tragedy struck in Maharashtra’s Nashik district on Friday night when nine members of a family, including six children, were killed after their car plunged into a water-filled well.

According to the police, the victims were returning home after attending a function at a local banquet hall when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fall into the well around 10:30 PM. Emergency services, along with local police, worked through the night to retrieve the car and its occupants using cranes and swimmers, recovering the bodies by midnight.

The deceased have been identified as Sunil Dattu Dargude (32), his wife Reshma, Asha Anil Dargude (32), and their six children—five girls aged between seven and 14 years, and an 11-year-old boy.

Quoting officials, PTI reported that the victims were members of the Dargude family in Dindori taluka. The bodies have been transferred to the government hospital in Dindori for post-mortem. Authorities have registered a case, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
