Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has finalised its list of candidates for all 234 constituencies for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections, a new report said. The party is expected to make an official announcement regarding the same on March 29, Sunday.
The list is expected to include more than 30 women candidates, Tamil media reports said. TVK was originally expected to release the list Friday but the candidates returned to their home turfs after it was decided to postpone the official release, a report said. While the names of candidates have been finalised, there are some sorting out left to do regarding who is contesting from where, resulting in the postponement, a media report said.

Vijay is almost certain to contest from Chennai's Perambur seat. He will begin his campaign from the constituency. He will start the day at 11 am in MKB Nagar and proceed to five locations within the constituency, Daily Thanthi said in a report.
As part of this plan, he will campaign in the Perambur, Kolathur, Villivakkam, Anna Nagar, and Virugambakkam constituencies. A detailed travel plan has been prepared to ensure smooth movement without traffic congestion.
The TVK has sought the necessary permissions from the Election Commission, as well as from the police. While initial permission was sought to campaign in 12 constituencies, it is reported that approval has been granted only for a few areas. A report had earlier claimed that the TVK team has reportedly rented a home at Kodungaiyur, at Kannadasan Nagar, for Vijay to stay.
Perambur, where the ICF coach factory is located, is a predominantly working-class and middle-class area with a significant chunk of socially backward people and Christian minorities. It is also a stronghold of Vanniyar, Wodeyar, Thevar and Mudaliar communities.
TVK pins its hopes on the party’s voter base in the region. Party general secretary Adhava Arjun told reporters that the party had connected with over 40,000 people in the constituency in a short time, which was unprecedented in any other constituency. “Therefore, our leader should contest here, which is an important part of North Chennai,” Adhav Arjuna said.
