Tamil Nadu SIR: 5.67 crore voters after 74 lakh names deleted from final list

The final voter list from Tamil Nadu has been released after the state’s Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls. The SIR was carried out in the state from November 4 to December 14.

TN Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik said that there were a total of 5.67 crore voters in the state after a deletion of about 74,07,207 voters.

Out of this, 2,77,38,925 were male, and 2,89,60,838 were women. 7,671 voters were transgender.

The original list counted about 6.41 crore voters as of October 27.

The draft voters list had deleted about  97.37 lakh voters  reducing the number to 5.43 crore.

During the period for corrections from December 19 to January 30 around 27,53,796 voters were added after they submitted forms. About 4.23 lakh ineligible voters were also deleted during this period.

The number of electors in the 18-19 age group in the state is 12.51 lakh. Senior citizens (85 and above) made up 3.99 lakh.

The assembly constituency with the highest number of electors in Sholinganallur in Chengalpattu district has 5,36,991 electors. The lowest number ofvoters were in Harbour consttuency in Chennai with around 1.16 voters.

District wise, Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem, Thirvallor and Chengalpattu had the highest voter populations.

The final list can also be checked through the Booth Level Officers and the website of the Election Commission of India.
