In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old MBA student was found dead at her classmate's rented accommodation in Indore. The incident was brought to the attention of the police after neighbours reported a foul smell from the house. The accused, who attempted to flee the incident, was arrested in Mumbai on Monday. The interrogation has uncovered shocking details.

The accused has been identified by Piyush Dhamnotiya.

In the CCTV footage, Dhamnotiya is seen arriving with the student on February 10. About two and a half hours later, the same cameras, installed near his house, recorded him leaving alone, carrying a bag.

According to police, the refusal of sex led to the murder of the student. He allegedly forced himself on her, and after the assault, he tied her hands and feet with ropes found in the apartment. She was blindfolded and stuffed with cloth into her mouth. Reportedly, he sat on her chest, choking her till she lost consciousness.

When she had stopped breathing, he allegedly stabbed her chest with such force that the knife broke.

After killing her, he later stepped out, bought beer from a liquor shop, returned, and drank beside her lifeless body, police said.

The interrogation revealed that he lit incense sticks in a secluded corner of Panvel and watched YouTube videos on "how to summon spirits".

Officials added that he sexually assaulted the victim's body, leaving her naked before fleeing the scene. The accused also said that he wanted to marry her, and she was distancing herself from him.

Dhamnotiya attempted to perform black magic in an isolated area in Maharashtra. According to Indore DCP Krishnalal Chandni, he was mentally disturbed and tried to communicate with the woman's spirit.
