Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde alleged that the incident was caused by negligence by the contractor and the MMRDA. "This is really sad. MMRDA and the concerned contractor have shown negligence. Due to this, a person died, and 3 others were injured. This cannot be tolerated at all. The parapet wall/girder was installed here last night. I think the related safety rules should have been followed here,” she said, speaking to ANI.
"The site engineer of MMRDA, the concerned contractor and the consultant were responsible for this. The MLA and I have informed the CM. Third-party audit on the MMRDA site engineer and the concerned contractor will definitely be done, and action will be taken. Case will be registered," she added.
