A speeding Lamborghini, allegedly driven by Shivam Mishra, the son of tobacco tycoon K.K. Mishra, crashed into pedestrians and several parked vehicles in Kanpur’s Gwaltoli area on Sunday, police said.
At least six people were injured in the accident, which occurred around 3:15 pm near Rev-3 Mall.
DCP (Central) Atul Kumar Srivastava said the vehicle, driven by Shivam Mishra, went out of control, striking pedestrians standing along the roadside and several parked vehicles, causing panic in the area.
Police have seized the luxury car and registered an FIR in connection with the incident.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Lamborghini was traveling at high speed when it first collided with an autorickshaw. After the impact, the driver lost control and crashed into several parked two-wheelers and a pedestrian. Reports said the car mounted a motorcycle's front wheel and dragged it for some distance before hitting an electric pole and coming to a halt.
According to a report by the Times of India, eyewitnesses claimed that the car’s speed increased after the collision with the autorickshaw. The pedestrian, identified as Taufiq, was reportedly on his way to Karbala when the incident took place.
At least five others were also injured while attempting to escape from the path of the speeding car.
