Police on Saturday arrested the alleged mastermind of a sexual exploitation and religious conversion racket based in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The accused, identified as Imran, a resident of Mirzapur, was detained by the central government’s Immigration Department while allegedly attempting to flee the country with his family. Police said a lookout notice had been issued to all airports and seaports following intelligence inputs that he was planning to escape abroad.

According to police, Imran allegedly ran the racket through a network of gyms—operating under the name KGM Gym One—in Mirzapur. These gyms were reportedly managed by his relatives. So far, four such gyms have been sealed.

The alleged sexual exploitation of women, blackmailing, and attempts at religious conversion came to light after two women filed complaints at the Kotwali Dehat police station in Mirzapur on January 20.

Imran is the seventh person to be arrested in the case. Those arrested include a Government Railway Police (GRP) constable currently posted in Bhadohi district, who has since been suspended.

Police said 47 gyms are operating in the district, all of which are now under investigation to determine their ownership, the identities of trainers, and whether female trainers are employed.

Mirzapur SSP/DIG Somen Barma said an Uttar Pradesh Police team reached Delhi and obtained a transit remand to bring the accused back to the state.

The officer added that Imran has 65 cases registered against him, most of them related to fraud. A cash reward of ₹25,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest.
