Bomb threat on tissue forces Delhi-Bagdogra IndiGo flight to make emergency landing in Lucknow

An Indigo flight from Delhi to Bagdogra made an emergency landing in Lucknow after a bomb threat was discovered written on a tissue paper

An Indigo Airlines flight had to be diverted to Lucknow after a bomb threat was discovered written on a tissue paper, officials said. The flight was travelling from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport to Bagdgra when the threat was found.

The threat was allegedly found written on a tissue paper inside flight 6E-6650 at around 8:46 am. The crew alerted air traffic central and activated standard security procedures.

The aircraft made a safe landing at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at around 9:17 am, and all the passengers were evacuated as a precaution.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Verma, who spoke to ANI, said, "A message was found written on a tissue paper in the toilet of the flight, stating that there was a bomb on board. The flight had 238 passengers, along with the pilots and crew. The flight was en route from Delhi to Bagdogra. It made an emergency landing in Lucknow and is currently being searched."

After the plane landed, it was taken to an isolation bay at the Lucknow airport.

CISF teams and bomb disposal squads surrounded the plane and made a detailed search. Authorities also carried out security checks after passengers were evacuated. Further investigations are underway to rule out any potential risks.

The aircraft carried around 230 passengers, including 222 adults and eight infants, along with the two pilots and 5 cabin crew members.
