Tamil Nadu Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami took a dig at the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led alliance on Thursday and said the alliance is collapsing. Taking part in Pongal celebrations in Salem, Palaniswami asserted the AIADMK-led alliance will come to power in Tamil Nadu after the assembly polls.

Saying the ruling alliance is heading towards collapse, Palaniswami said, Congress, the long-term ally of the DMK, is slipping away over seat-sharing disagreements. The AIADMK leader claimed there were growing disagreements within the ruling alliance.

"The Congress is going to slip away from the DMK. Daily reports indicate that the question mark over their future is growing. While Stalin's alliance is crumbling due to internal contradictions, the AIADMK has formed a robust and winning front that will restore Amma's rule' in Tamil Nadu," Palaniswami asserted. Palaniswami termed it a sign of "DMK's weakening hold on the state".

Palaniswami claimed, "Congress is looking for an exit as the inefficient DMK government faces mounting public anger". The former chief minister charged that the  DMK has failed to maintain law and order in the southern state.

"Today, Tamil Nadu has become a land of protests. From doctors and teachers to farmers and sanitation workers, every section of society is on the streets. This government's time is up," Palaniswami added.

Targeting DMK over its failure to appoint a permanent police chief, Palaniswami charged, "A government that cannot even appoint a permanent DGP cannot be expected to protect its citizens from the drug menace that is ravaging our youth from villages to cities."

Asserting the AIADMK-led alliance is firm, Palaniswami said, "Our victory is certain. No force can stop the AIADMK from winning the majority and forming a government that truly serves the people."
