In a move signaling a clear shift towards reconciliation, former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav arrived at his mother Rabri Devi’s residence in Patna on Tuesday, where he met with his parents and younger brother.

Tej was expelled from the RJD by his father and party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in May last year for "irresponsible behavior" and "ignoring moral values." Lalu Prasad had also announced that he had severed all family ties with his elder son.

Following his expulsion, Tej formed his own party, the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), and unsuccessfully contested the Bihar Assembly elections from the Mahua constituency.

After arriving at his mother's house at 10 Circular Road, Tej touched the feet of both Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi to seek their blessings and held the hand of Tejashwi Yadav—gestures that marked a visible thaw in their strained family ties.

Tej also invited them to the Dahi-Chura feast scheduled for January 14 in celebration of Makar Sankranti.

Sharing pictures of his family moments, Tej wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Today, I reached the residence at 10 Circular Road and met my father, the honorable Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav Ji, and my mother, the honorable Smt. Rabri Devi Ji, to seek their blessings. I also met my younger brother, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi, and handed over an invitation for the 'Historic Dahi-Chuda Feast' program to be held tomorrow, January 14, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti."

He added, "At the same time, I also had the wonderful moment of playing with my dear niece Katyayani in my lap."
