Renowned artist Bose Krishnamachari on Wednesday resigned as the president of Kochi-Muziris Biennale and from the Board of Trustees of Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF).
Citing family reasons for his resignation, Bose stated, "After 15 years of being deeply committed and involved in building the Foundation and shaping the Biennale, from its inception as an artist-led initiative to what it is today, I felt this was the right moment to step back, for personal and family reason, and to return more fully to my own artistic practice."

Krishnamachari co-founded the KBF in 2010 with an aim to establish a world-class art festival in Kerala.
"The Foundation is in a strong place, and future editions are already gaining momentum, which gives me confidence and peace in making this decision," stated Krishnamachari.
"I carry this experience with immense gratitude and wish the Foundation and future editions of the Biennale continued strength and success," he added.
Pointing out that Krishnamachari has been one of the most influential figures in the growth and evolution of the biennale, Dr Venu Vasudevan, the KBF chairperson, said the foundation is currently in the process of finding a successor. "The search is under way for an eminent person with high credentials in the art world to take over the mantle of president," he stated.
The sixth edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale, titled 'For the Time Being' opened on December 12, 2025. Curated by performance artist Nikhil Chopra and his HH Art Spaces team, the edition will wind up on March 31.
