Security breach at Ram Mandir: Kashmiri man detained after trying to offer namaz

A man hailing from the Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir was taken into custody after he allegedly tried to offer namaz inside Ayodhya's Ram Mandir complex.

According to media reports, the man, identified as Ahmed Sheikh, entered the temple premises on Friday and sat down near the Sita Rasoi area of the temple complex.

The man, who was said to be in Kashmiri attire, was getting ready to offer namaz when security officials noticed him. He was detained by the security staff of the temple and handed over to the police for questioning.

Reports also claim that the man attempted to raise slogans when security officials tried to stop him from offering prayers.

The accused has been questioned by the police and intelligence agencies to ascertain his intent and to see if anyone else is involved.

The man revealed during questioning that he was travelling to Ajmer, media reports say.

The incident, which amounts to a breach of security, has raised concerns, and authorities are reviewing security arrangements at the complex.
