In a horrific incident in Haryana's Faridabad, a 28-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in a moving van for nearly two hours before being thrown on the road.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred in the wee hours of Tuesday when the woman was waiting for a vehicle to go home from her friend's house at Metro Chowk. A van stopped nearby, and two young men lured her into the vehicle, promising to drop her off at her destination, reports said.

The vehicle then took a different route, and the accused repeatedly raped her inside for nearly two hours. Around 3 am, the woman was pushed onto the road near Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar, leaving her with severe facial injuries.

The woman managed to call her sister for help, after which her family rushed to the scene and took her to the hospital.

Police said she was undergoing treatment at Badshah Khan Hospital and her condition is stable.

“Her sister told us that the girl said that the two accused took her away towards the Gurugram-Faridabad Road and gang-raped her,” said Yashpal Yadav, public relations officer of Faridabad police.

“The arrested duo is being interrogated to corroborate the facts and ascertain the sequence of events. They will be formally arrested on Wednesday,” he added.

According to reports, the victim is married and has three children. She lives separately from her husband following a dispute.

Based on a complaint filed by the woman's sister, an FIR has been registered under sections 70(1) (gang rape with an adult woman), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Kotwali police station.
