Pawan Thakur, the Dubai-based drug trafficker who was behind one of the country's biggest cocaine rackets, is likely to be deported to India soon, reports say.

He is believed to be the mastermind behind the smuggling of 82 kilograms of cocaine worth Rs 2,500 crore, which was seized in Delhi in November 2024.

The NCB had issued a silver Notice against him via Interpol in September. The notice enables international law enforcement agencies to trace assets, businesses and financial operations. The ED also carried out raids at his locations and froze 118 of his mule accounts.

He is also the man behind the meth drugs seized by the anti-drugs body in Delhi earlier this week, which was found to be worth Rs 282 crore. Officials also say that Thakur was a long-time operator in the hawala and money laundering business.

Sources say that Thakur and his family fled to Delhi after the drug seizure in Delhi last year. He had reportedly continued to operate his smuggling and money laundering activities. He also acquired property in Debai, including luxury cars and a villa in the Dubai hills estate.
