Bihar: Nitish Kumar gives up home ministry as BJP pushes hard; here's who got what portfolio in new NDA cabinet

With BJP becoming the largest party in the assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was forced to give up the home portfolio that he held for 20 years. 

Home ministry will now be handled by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary (BJP). However, Nitish has kept the portfolios of cabinet secretariat, vigilance and general administration. He will also handle departments that are not allotted to other ministers.

The other deputy chief minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, also from BJP, will now lead revenue and land reforms as well as mine and geology. Revenue and land reforms will also be handled by Ram Surat Kumar.

Vijay Kumar Chaudhary will handle portfolios like water resources; commercial taxes; information and public relations

JDU's Sunil Kumar will handle education while the new health and law minister is BJP's Mangal Pandey. Industries was allotted to BJP's Dilip Jaiswal and rural works to Ashok Choudhary of JDU.

Bijendra Yadav was allocated energy and Shravan Kumar is the rural development minister. Both are from JDU. 

JDU's Leshi Singh will oversee Food and Consumer Protection department while BJP's Nitin Nabin was given departments of Road Construction; and Urban Development and Housing.

JDU's Madan Sahni is the Social Welfare minister while BJP's Ram Kripal Yadav will handle Agriculture.

Backward and Extremely Backward Class Welfare was given to BJP's Rama Nishad and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare to BJP's Lakhendra Roshan. 

BJP's Shreyasi Singh will handle IT and sports departments while environment, forest and climate Change; and cooperation was allotted to BJP's Pramod Chandra Banshi.

BJP's Sanjay Singh Tiger is the new labour resources minister while tourism as well as  art, culture and youth affairs was allotted to Arun Shankar Prasad of BJP.

Animal and Fisheries Resources ministry is now headed by BJP's Surendra Mehta, disaster management by BJP's Narayan Prasad and Panchayati Raj by RLM Deepak Prakash. LJP ministers Sanjay Paswan and Sanjay Kumar Singh were given sugarcane industries and PHED respectively.
