Deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde flew to Delhi to meet union Home minister Amit Shah and raise a complaint about BJP state president Ravindra Chavan.
Senior Shinde Sena functionaries confirmed the Ekanth Shinde-Amit Shah meeting. They said Shinde expressed unhappiness over the conduct of state BJP chief Ravindra Chavan and the way he had initiated poaching of Sena functionaries and former Corporators, especially in the Sena bastions of Kalyan-Dombivali. Incidentally, Kalyan Dombivali area is part of Shinde's son, Dr Shrikant Shinde's Parliament constituency.
Shinde also told Shah that the recent friction between the Sena and BJP over poaching of functionaries could dent the Mahayuti in the local body polls, since it was ‘vitiating’ the atmosphere.

“After the victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections, the environment is extremely favourable for the alliance in the upcoming local self-government elections. However, some leaders are trying to spoil this environment, giving the Opposition an undue advantage. Unnecessary and misleading reports are appearing in the media, creating confusion among the public. This is also causing uncertainty among party workers and office-bearers. Such avoidable disruptions could potentially hinder the alliance’s winning momentum. This is what Shinde conveyed to Amit Shah,” the functionary said.
“Some leaders are working out of personal interest, and steps must be taken to ensure that such behaviour does not continue. Additionally, leaders within the alliance should avoid criticizing one another. While making public statements, everyone is expected to maintain restraint and adopt a stance of harmony and understanding. This was also told to the BJP top brass as they are the guardians of the Mahayuti,” the functionary added.
