‘Learn from past experiences’: Hosabale responds to Kharge’s RSS ban demand

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has said that in the recent years the organisation has expanded its work across tribal regions and among labourers, farmers, students, entrepreneurs, and professionals.

The Sangh has added 10,000 new Shakhas in the last one year alone,  Hosabale said, while addressing a press conference on the concluding day of the ‘Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal Baithak’ in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur.

He stated that currently 87,398 daily shakhas are conducted at 55,052 places, which is 15,000 more than the previous year. 

“In the coming months, Hindu Sammelans will be organised at the basti (villages) and mandal levels. Through these activities, the message of 'Panch Parivartan' will be taken to the grassroots, to make these principles a part of social behaviour and daily life,” he said.

Hosabale claimed that an estmated that 45,000 rural and 35,000 urban areas Hindu sammelans will be held in the coming months.

“Additionally, Samaajik Sadbhav Baithaks will be organised at the block and city levels, while Prabuddha Nagarik Goshthis will be held at district headquarters,” he said.

‘RSS can’t be banned at someone’s whim’

Responding to to a question about Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's statement that the Sangh should be banned, Hosabale said those making such a demand should learn from past experiences.

"Such attempts (to ban RSS) were made three times in the past. What did society say then? What did the court say? Despite all this, the Sangh's work kept growing. There must be valid reasons to impose a ban," he noted.

Hosabale asserted that the organisation cannot be banned just because somebody wishes so, and claimed that the society has accepted the RSS.

"It cannot happen just because someone wishes so. If a leader says that an organisation working for the unity, security and culture of India should be banned, he must also state the reason," he claimed.
